I will not wave your flag

I will not wave your flag

Now I don’t feel inadequate so I don’t build my self-esteem

By victimising vulnerables, intimidating refugees,

With half-mast flags on lamp-posts and scribbled on the floor

Because I can love my country without pretending I’m at war.

And yes I can, still, just about, love my country though sometimes I question that

But, while you wield it like a weapon, I will not wave your flag.
